I'm not quite sure what I want this blog to be yet but I thought it would be fun to try. Part of me feels like the last thing the world needs is another blog about economics, but on the other hand (sly Harry Truman reference) I enjoy talking with people about economics. My general thoughts are that it should be an economist's perspective on the world, but one that is more broad and thoughtful than opinionated, and which covers topics outside the typical blogosphere macro hate-spiral debate (which isn't to say those blogs aren't interesting, just that I don't have a hell of a lot to contribute to those debates). I really like the intersection of economics with things that people don't normally think of as related to economics, especially art. I also really like art for its own sake, and it's probably unavoidable that sometimes I'll blog about books, film, movies, and the like. Also, I think I want a theme of this thing to be explaining exactly why economics is so damn hard to do, but also why it's still important that we do it. Which goes some way toward explaining the title I chose. The title also has a second meaning that will be evident to anyone who knows me personally and is Jewish.
Anyway, when I have a better idea of exactly the kind of stuff I want to write about, as well as a topic for a first post, I'll post again and tell a few folks that I started a blog (they'll probably roll their eyes because everyone in econ is starting a blog these days).
